Leipzig beat United to progress in CL, Juve ease past Barca

RB Leipzig dumped Manchester United out of the Champions League with a 3-2 victory on Tuesday, while Juventus secured top spot in Group G with a comfortable 3-0 win over Barcelona.

Leipzig were in complete control after just 13 minutes in Germany, with Angelino and Amadou Haidara scoring to put them two-up, and Justin Kluivert netted the third after the break. Bruno Fernandes’ penalty and a strike from Paul Pogba gave United hope, but it proved to be too little, too late.

The defeat means the Red Devils will play in the Europa League from February, while the Bundesliga advance from Group H where the other game between Paris Saint Germain and Basaksehir suspended after the Turkish visitors left the pitch over alleged racism from the fourth official.

Two penalties from Cristiano Ronaldo and an acrobatic Weston McKennie effort gave Juventus all three points. Barcelona had won all five of their opening matches in the competition this season, but have to settle for second due to their inferior head-to-head record versus Juve. Elsewhere, Chelsea drew 1-1 with Krasnodar, Sevilla won 3-1 at Rennes and Dynamo Kiev defeated Ferencvaros 1-0.
