Polio eradication is top priority of the Govt, D.C Hyderabad Abbas Baloch

Hyderabad (HRNW) Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Abbas Baloch said that polio eradication remains the top priority of the Government and the necessary effective arrangements were being done by the respective District Administrations of Hyderabad Division, this he said while presiding the readiness meeting of Divisional Taskforce of Hyderabad held at his office on Wednesday, which attended by all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of the Division through online video-link.

Commissioner Baloch said that the improved and effective micro-plans for polio and routine immunization are being developed by the concerned health officials in consultation with respective district administration. “In order to prevent from COVID-19 second wave, which is very dangerous, all polio workers must be necessarily facilitated by the district administration for providing them mask and sanitizers”, the Commissioner Hyderabad added. Briefing the meeting about the performance of Hyderabad division, Divisional Taskforce Focal and Additional Commissioner-II Tahir Ali Memon said that upcoming five-day anti-polio drive will be commenced on Monday, January 11, 2020 and 2.15 million children of 5 year age of nine districts and 290 union councils of Hyderabad Division will be given polio drops.

He further shared that eleven and three polio cases were reported in the division in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Mr. Memon further shared the overall situation including the status of security measures and environmental sampling of all the districts of the division. In meeting Fuad Ghaffar Soomro, Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad briefed regarding the preparedness on behalf of district administration for the upcoming polio drive while other DCs through online video link updated for the readiness on behalf of their respective district administration for anti-polio drive.

In conclusion remarks, Commissioner Muhammad Abbas Baloch said that status of the all dysfunctional health facilities in the division should be identified by the respective DC of the district and necessary actions should be taken to make them functional accordingly. He directed all the DCs to ensure polio drops at Toll Plazas of their respective districts called Permanent Transit Points (PTPs). He further directed that all the necessary arrangements and effective micro-plan for upcoming Anti-Polio Drive to be finalized. District Health Officer Dr. Muhammad Juman, Dr. Tulsi Das, Assistant Commissioner Staff Shabir Jiskani and other health officials attended the meeting, ended by the vote of thanks by the Commissioner.
