Grace time ends, PSQCA ready for crackdown against 61 new un-licensed items

Lahore (HRNW)- Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority has chalked out a comprehensive plan for licensing of 61 new items, recently inducted in its mandatory list by the federal government, special teams have been formed to raid units for seizing stock and stopping production after completion of grace time.
According to a spokesman of the PSQCA, after completion of grace time December 31, 2020, the Director General PSQCA Abdul Aleem Memon has ordered the officers for taking action. Standard Development Centre Conformity Assessment Lahore Zone Muhammad Yasin Akhtar has constituted special teams for complete compliance of the notification issued by the Ministry of Science & Technology on October 3, 2020. The teams have started to serve notices to the units producing these 61 new items, after searching locations of units.
Even after receiving the notice, if any unit does not submit application for PS License within the grace time of the notices, the teams will start seizing stock and stop manufacturing products.
Newly inducted items include shaving cream, hair cream, bicycle tyres, car tyres and rims, sanitary tabs, polypropylene types, UPS, sound system, coffee, fruit juices, fortified wheat flour, aluminium products, electric switch, sockets, plugs, secondary cells and batteries, washing machines, microwave oven, electric iron, bio fertilizers, water and gas supply pipes, lighter, paint brushes, surgical gloves, AC, television, olive oil and other some articles.
Director General Abdul Aleem Memon has said that inclusion of new items is a milestone for the department and country, it would be helpful in provision quality products to the consumers and ultimately, complains regarding quality of these items would be decreased.
He said that PSQCA field staff would visit markets and stores for open market sampling any time to maintain the quality.
The DG directed the units producing all the items to submit their applications for license as soon as possible, otherwise strict and across the board crackdown would be initiated.
