Alhamra Released 300 Video Lectures of “Sarangi”

Lahore (HRNW)- Alhamra has achieved another success by releasing 300 video lectures on the ancient instrument “Sarangi” in a modern style studio here on Monday, at Alhamra Arts Center, The Mall Road.
Sarangi is a folk instrument; which came to be accepted as a classical instrument during the time of “Muhammad Shah Rangila” By the 19th century, Sarangi came to be associated with the performances of courtesans.

Alhamra being a center of art not only works to improve the future of our music industry, but also keeps alive all antique musical instruments that are becoming rarer in society. A practical example of this, that Alhamra Arts Council released 300 videos lectures of the endangered instrument Sarangi to revitalize this musical instrument.

On the occasion, Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Saman Rai said that the most important purpose of making these videos is the survival of this old instrument. She further said that now with the online availability of these 300 lectures, anyone from all over the world who wants to learn this art can learn it easily for free at their own home. Alhamra Arts Council successfully facilitating social life by providing opportunities to the youth that is why LAC used the most unfavorable condition of COVID-19 by creating these videos lectures in which Sarangi’s teachers, students and the entire team have worked hard, she added.
