More than 43000 schools have been locate on Google Maps, Saeed Ghani

KARACHI: (HRNW) Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has said that more than 43,000 primary, middle and secondary schools across the province have been located on Google Maps through full GPS.

Government schools in all the districts of the province have been clustered at the level of Union Council and Union Committee and within the next 3 years, in collaboration with the World Bank and others, schools within 2 km of each Union Council and Union Committee in the province.

One of the schools will be given elementary school status. In this regard, 1000 elementary schools will be built during the first 3 years while in the second phase this number will be increased to 2,000.

The headmaster of each elementary school will be responsible for the administrative and financial affairs of the school coming in this cluster and it will be related to the said area and community. Efforts will be made to make them aware of the geographical, social and cultural environment of the area. Be aware and play their part in enrolling out-of-school children in their cluster schools.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the Reform Support Unit of the School Education Department held at his office. The meeting was attended by Sindh Education Secretary Ahmed Bakhsh Narejo, MD Sindh Education Foundation Qazi Kabir, Chief Program Manager Reform Support Unit Zubair Channa, Dilawar Mangi, Program Manager Amanullah Kalhoor, Aftab Alam, Director Schools Rasool Bakhsh Shah, Director General Monitoring Shah Mir and Other senior officials were present. The provincial minister was informed in the meeting that under the Reform Support Unit (OFSU), a cluster of more than 43,000 primary, middle and secondary schools in 29 districts of the province under the Union Council and a cluster of schools within 2 km under the Union Committee. The work has been completed. The provincial minister was informed that all these schools in all the districts have been located on Google under GPS and the location of any school in the next province can be located under Google map. The Chief Program Manager of RSU said that data of all these schools has also been compiled, they are present in the said UC within 2 km and now their cluster has also been formed. He said that in the first phase of this program, there will be a cluster of 4 to 5 schools at the level of each UC and a middle elementary school will be set up in it and its headmaster will look after the administrative and financial affairs of all these schools. He said that there are currently 4,000 out of 6,000 elementary schools at UC level under the cluster and we will have to build 2,000 more elementary schools.

He said that in order to increase the literacy rate in the province, under this program, the said headmaster who is associated with the same UC and the geographical, social and cultural of the area would be appointed so that he could refer to the area. Taking the community into confidence and enrolling children who are still away from school. He further said that the schools in each UC with enrollment of less than 30 children would be merged with other schools within 2 km of the same UC and the SIM code of this school would be abolished. He said that under the program, special attention has been paid to ensure that every UC should have one girls ‘and one boys’ elementary school so that they can get compulsory education from class I to VIII. On the occasion, Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani said that under this program, committees should be formed at the UC level to monitor these schools and these committees should include parents of students of this school, social leaders of the area, political people and departments. People should be involved so that they can monitor these schools themselves and make it their own. Saeed Ghani said that under the PPP manifesto, all resources should be utilized to bring out-of-school children in the province and every platform should be used to increase the literacy rate in the province.

He added that there are some areas where the geographical population migrates to different areas for employment so it should be ensured that their children are also brought to schools and if they go elsewhere.
Revolution in the field of Education
If they migrate, they can easily get admission in other schools in the area so that their children do not stay out of school.

He said that we want a revolution in the field of education and we are trying to ensure revolutionary steps in the field of education just as we have taken revolutionary steps in other fields and also in the world. What has happened in the country and especially in Sindh province can be fully remedied.
