Large fire breaks out at kebab meat factory outside Berlin

The production hall of a kebab meat factory south of Berlin has been gutted by fire, emergency services said early Tuesday.

When firefighters arrived at the scene in the area of Schoenefeld-Grossziethen on Monday evening, the 1,200-square-metre hall was entirely in flames, a spokesman for the fire brigade said.

Over 20 fire trucks and ambulances were deployed and firefighters worked overnight to extinguish the fire.

Local residents were advised to keep their doors and windows shut due to the thick smoke caused by the blaze.

There do not appear to have been any casualties.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear and investigators have so far not been able to access the burned-out building.
