KATI demands reversal of increas in electricity tariffs

Karachi: (HRNW) Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) has demanded to reverse the decision of price hike in electricity tariffs.

In a statement released by KATI President Saleem-uz-Zaman, Senior Vice President Zaki Sharif and Vice President Nighat Awan have urged the PM Khan to immediately take notice of current decision of electricity price hike and to review the policy for the sake of industrial and exports prosperity of the country.

President KATI Saleem-uz-Zaman said that while industrial sector has already grave concerns over higher rates of energy, petroleum and other commodities, this new decision of increasing electricity would be a great setback for the industrial production which already have been suffering brunt of Covid pandemic crisis. He mentioned that industry was buying most expensive electricity in the region, due to this, competitiveness is being already compromised in exports market. He said that another increase in electricity tariffs would limit our prospects in international exports.

President KATI said that with this situation, we could never meet our exports targets which has now become question of survival for our economy.
He recalled that PM Imran Khan always supports the idea of lower cost of production and increase in exports, “higher prices of electricity will adversely affect in this regard” he added. He further said that PM Khan should take immediate notice of the decision and provide relief to industry and domestic consumers as well.
