Sporting director Huebner to leave Frankfurt at the end of the season

Frankfurt (dpa) – Sporting director Bruno Huebner will leave Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of the season, the Bundesliga club said on Wednesday.

Huebner contract expires in June 2021 and won’t be extended. He joined Frankfurt in summer 2011.

“For the club, a change in this position certainly makes sense after such a long time. In recent months it has become increasingly clear that this is the best and right solution for both sides,” the 60-year-old was quotes in a statement.

“I’m proud to have been a part of this. Above all, I will always remember the fantastic fans and the great atmosphere. We could rely on them at every stage,” Huebner added.

It remains unclear how the club plan to fill the position from the summer onwards.

Huebner’s tenure included winning the German Cup in 2018 and reaching the Europa League semi-finals in 2019.

Frankfurt are currently third in the Bundesliga and enter the weekend game against champions Bayern Munich unbeaten in 10 games of which they have won eight.
