Leipzig coach Nagelsmann hopes Frankfurt helps them in title race

RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann hopes that in-form Eintracht Frankfurt can stop leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday which could put his team back in the Bundesliga title race.

Leipzig are five points behind Bayern, and five ahead of Frankfurt before their Sunday match at Hertha Berlin. The deficit to the top could shrink to two points if Bayern lose and Leipzig win.

“Frankfurt are in extremely good shape, they do a lot of good things and win games where they don’t excel. Maybe they’ll play to a draw, maybe they’ll win,” Nagelsmann said on Friday of Frankfurt who have won eight of their 10 unbeaten games.

“The result will be interesting for us, no matter how it turns out. The game is open in both directions.”

Bayern dropped two points in a 3-3 draw at Arminia Bielefeld on Monday and lost their last league match in Frankfurt 5-1, spelling the end for coach Niko Kovac who was replaced by Hansi Flick who has won all six titles on offer since them.

Leipzig have won their last three league matches and all four previous games at lowly Hertha, scoring 17 goals in the process.
