“We are very confident that we will race in Berlin,” Formula E managing director Jamie Reigle told a news conference on Monday ahead of the season opener with a night race on Friday in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

Reigle said Germany is an “important market” for Formula E. So far, amid the coronavirus pandemic, the race calendar has been planned until June without the otherwise fixed stage location Berlin.

This will be the seventh season of the all-electric racing series.

Last year Berlin hosted six races to complete the season in August at the former Tempelhof airport in three different layouts after the calendar had to be reviewed due to the pandemic.
