Frankfurt coach Huetter to join Gladbach in summer

Eintracht Frankfurt coach Adi Huetter will join Borussia Moenchengladbach in summer, both clubs have said in a statement on Tuesday.

A buyout clause in Huetter’s contract allowed the coach an early exit from his deal, which runs until June 30, 2023. The club was informed about his decision on Monday evening.

“The decision to start a new chapter in the new season was not an easy one,” Huetter said in a statement.

“I have experienced three incredibly successful and intensive years here, which I would like to conclude with an outstanding result together with the team at the end of this season. We want to qualify for the Champions League,” he added.

Frankfurt are fourth in the last Champions League slot and have a seven-point cushion there, while Gladbach are 13 points back in eighth and in danger of missing out on a European berth.

The two sides meet on Saturday in an important Bundesliga duel.

Current Gladbach coach Rose will move to Borussia Dortmund in summer. The team lost seven games in a row after Rose said in mid-February he would leave for Dortmund.

“We’re very happy about Adi Huetter’s commitment,” Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl said. “He’s the best coach for our team and our club for the challenges and goals that lie ahead of us from the summer onwards.”
