Dardai to remain Hertha Berlin coach next season

Pal Dardai will remain as Hertha Berlin coach next season, the club confirmed Sunday, after the Hungarian returned to the bench in the middle of the last campaign to keep them in the top-flight.

Dardai, 45, has been with Hertha as a player or in a coaching capacity since 1997 with the exception of a brief spell as Hungary boss 2014-15.

He was head coach for Hertha 2015-2019 and was called back to the main job from the youth department this January when the team was struggling and boss Bruno Labbadia paid the price.

Despite the difficulty of an enforced break due to a coronavirus quarantine, Dardai kept Hertha up with a game to spare and will now stay at the helm for the coming campaign.

Club icon Dardai has a permanent contract with Hertha, effectively guaranteeing him employment though his salary can be adjusted depending on his role.
