Leipzig coach Marsch says he could line up ‘two Bundesliga teams’

RB Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch believes his team is in a very good position ahead of the start of the new Bundesliga season.

“The potential of the players is enormous. I think we have perhaps the broadest squad in the league,” Marsch told the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung paper and the online portal rblive.de on Thursday.

“Basically, we could line up two Bundesliga teams. If we manage to develop this potential completely, then we can have a lot of fun together.”

The competition is particularly fierce in the attack. Marsch currently has strikers Alexander Sorloth, Yussuf Poulsen, Hwang Hee Chan, Andre Silva and Brian Brobbey at his disposal.

“Four strikers would be good to fill every position twice. I think we’ll find a solution,” he said. “Especially now that we are allowed to make five substitutions, the bench is needed and everyone gets a chance.”

Marsch has also spoken often with Marcel Sabitzer recently. The Leipzig captain still has one year left in his contract and does not seem to oppose the idea of playing for another club.

“It is never easy for a player when he only has one year left in his contract. I have a good relationship with him, like he had with Julian Nagelsmann in the past two years,” Marsch said.

“He is a good guy, he does everything for the team. We will see about everything else.”
