Karachi. (HRNW) Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Sindh Sadiq Ali Memon has said that under the directives of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, DEPD is committed to empower visually and hearing impaired persons so that they may live a normal and independent life and in this regard modern technology can be very useful if implemented properly. This he said while presiding over meeting with various non governmental organizations, working in this sector here in his office on Thursday. On this occasion Booltay Huroof and ConnecHear NGOs gave presentation on the issue. Secretary DEPD Akhtar Ali Bugti, Director General Ghulam Nabi Nizamani, CEO Booltay Huroof Hafiz Shaikh Umer Farooq, Regional Directors DEPD and others also attended the meeting.

On this occasion, the meeting was briefied that almost there were 2.4 million hearing impaired persons in the province and with the help of ConnectHear application, they might be benefitted. It was also discussed that ConnectHear application might be launched on 3rd December as it was International Day of Disabled Persons.

SACM on DEPD Sadiq Ali that it was first Pakistan Braille Software بولتے حروف and it was specialized software programme for enlight Pakistan’ s visually impaired persons. The software contains voice character feedback for every letter typed, indication of incorrect word by audio signal, correct word suggestion, 130 thousands word dictionary and line by line ink print and braille.

Special Assistant to CM Sindh on DEPD Sadiq Ali Memon said that Sindh Government was cooperating with all stakeholders working for the welfare of the persons with disabilities and DEPD had already taken many initiatives for the welfare of the persons with disabilities.
‘ Softwares for visually and hearing impaired persons are really wonderful and hopefully implementation of these softwares will help reduce their problems and these persons with disabilities will be able to live a better life’. he concluded.
