Agha Siraj Durrani granted two-day transit remand by accountability court

ISLAMABAD: (HRNW) An accountability court (AC) on Saturday granted two-day transit remand to Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in an assets beyond means case.

The provincial assembly speaker speaker was presented before an accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) a day after they arrested him from outside the Supreme Court.

In today’s hearing, NAB prosecutor Sohail Arif told the court that the speaker was arrested on Friday and requested the court to grant two-day transit remand as they want to shift the PPP leader to Karachi.

“He was presented earlier as well,” remarked the judge.

Arif, while agreeing with the judge’s remarks, stated that Durrani has been arrested in an asset beyond means case.

After hearing the prosecutor, Judge Bashir asked Durrani if he wanted to say anything. The PPP leader responded by asking the judge to send him to Karachi as soon as possible.

The court after hearing the arguments granted a two-day transit demand to the Sindh Assembly speaker.
