JI stages sit-in outside Sindh Assembly in Karachi

Karachi (HRNW) The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has staged a sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly in Karachi today (Friday) to protest against the Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Act passed by the Sindh Assembly in December.

Karachi JI Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman is leading the protest.

The leaders of the political party hadurged the people of Karachi to take to the roads and head towards the assembly buildings.

A large number of people are part in the demonstration which commenced after the Friday prayers.

The traffic diverted to alternate routes such as Sharae Liaquat, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, and MR Kiyani Road.

People were advised to avoid the protest route to prevent getting stuck in traffic.
