MQM’s reservations on money budget, 11 point suggestions presented

Karachi (HRNW) Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, a member of the ruling coalition, has expressed concerns about the mini-budget.

The MQM has submitted 11-point proposals on the mini-budget to the National Assembly and forwarded it to Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen.

The MQM leadership has opposed the imposition of tax on cottage industry and proposed withdrawal of tax on solar panels.

In its 11-point proposal, the MQM said that instead of subsidizing hospital machinery, equipment and life-saving items, 17 per cent sales tax should be abolished.

The proposals called for the abolition of taxes levied on locally manufactured daily use machinery and on small vehicles.

The MQM has said in its proposals that the tax has now been levied on 850 cc vehicles instead of 1,000 cc vehicles.

The ruling coalition party in its proposals said that the tax on all types of mobile phones should be abolished while the tax on bakery items, sewing machines, daily necessities should be abolished.
