Medical facilities will be provided to thalassemia patients from zakat fund. Fayyaz Butt

Karachi. (HRNW) : Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Fayyaz Ali Butt has said that timely awareness of thalassemia is a matter of urgency. Medical facilities to thalassemia patients will be provided through Zakat fund. He said this while meeting with Syed Mehdi Rizvi, Chief Executive Officer of Mohammadi Welfare Foundation at his office. Secretary Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Ghulam Abbas Detho was also present on the occasion.

Syed Mehdi Rizvi briefed Fayyaz Ali Butt, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Muhammadi Thalassemia Centers. Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Fayyaz Ali Butt was informed that there were two thalassemia centers in Karachi and one each in Multan and Jacobabad. There are 100 registered patients in Karachi and 300 in Jacobabad. The Sindh government provides financial assistance to 150 thalassemia patients at Jacobabad center.

On the occasion, Fayyaz Ali Butt, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr, said that thalassemia patients deserve treatment and attention. The Zakat Department provides financial assistance to poor patients. In one year, through Zakat Fund medical facilities to 3285 families at a cost of Rs. 12616918 have been provided. He said that Sindh government would play its role for thalassemia patients. He requested to the people to ensure thalassemia test before marriage. The disease can be prevented from spreading through awareness.

Fayyaz Ali Butt said that awareness about thalassemia is a matter of urgency. We all have to work together against this disease.
