Sindh CM issues stern warning to police over Karachi crime

Karachi (HRNW) Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has ordered police officers in Karachi to rid the city of street crimes immediately or face termination from service.

He issued the warning at a meeting on law and order situation in the metropolis.

Since January, 1, there were over 11,000 reported incidents of street crimes in the city. At least 3,845 mobile phones, 672 motorcycles and 20 cars were snatched from people. At least 18 people have been killed.

On Wednesday, the CM chaired a meeting on law and order situation of the city. Karachi Police Chief Addl IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon and other senior officers briefed him.

Memon said that there are 7,500 street criminals in the city who were involved in multiple robberies.

Murad Ali Shah asked authorities to submit daily reports on patrols and investigation activities in the city.

During the meeting, the CM ordered the authorities to take strict action against criminals to curb the rising street crimes in the city.

“I want Karachi to be free from street crime. I want immediate results because I have given all the resources to the police and if any police officer does not work, terminate them,” he said.

The chief minister also directed the chief secretary to remove drug addicts from streets and move them to Gulshan Maymar Rehabilitation center.
