Earthquake jolts northern areas of Pakistan

Peshawar (HRNW) Tremors from an earthquake were felt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other northern areas of the country Wednesday afternoon.

According to initial reports, the epicenter of the earthquake was near Afghanistan’s Kabul. Its magnitude was 5.0 on the rector scale, while the depth was recorded 175 kilometers.

Geological experts say the earthquake was a strong one as tremors were felt as far as in Islamabad.

People felt the ground shaking in Peshawar, Lahore, Bajaur, Swat and other areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well.

No loss of live or property has been reported.
