PM Imran reveals how govt subsidised fuel, electricity

Islamabad (HRNW) PM Imran Khan has said that “We have subsidized petrol, diesel and electricity prices because of the FBR’s performance.”

At ceremony in Islamabad to launch Rs407 billion interest-free loan programme, the premier revealed that the Federal Board of Revenue has collected Rs441 billion in taxes for the month of February, recording a robust growth of 28.5%.

The PM has promised to use the money for uplifting the poor and reducing the burden of inflation on the people.

Talking about the Kamyab Pakistan Program, the prime minister said that at least 4.5 million families have been enrolled in the initiative from across Pakistan.

The programme is part of the Prime Minister’s Vision for Poverty Alleviation under which loans worth Rs407 billion would be disbursed among the youths, women, farmers and for the construction of low-income houses during the next two years.

PM Khan said the main objective of the project was to provide relief to the lower class and promote economic growth. He added that interest-free loans worth Rs500,000 for businesses, Rs350,000 for farmers and Rs2 million for housing will be given.

Under the programme, he added, technical training will also be provided to one member of each deserving family in order to help them stand on their own feet.
