Pakistan signs new Reko Diq agreement with Barrick Gold

Islamabad (HRNW)Prime Minister Imran Khan has congratulated the nation over successful negotiations with Canadian company Barrick Gold for the development of Reko Diq – the undeveloped open-pit copper and gold deposition in Balochistan that have been at the heart of international litigation.

“I congratulate the nation & [people] of Balochistan on successful agreement with Barrick Gold for development of RekoDiq mine after 10 years of legal battles & negotiations. Penalty of approx $ 11b is off set, $10b will be invested in Balochistan creating 8000 new jobs,” the PM said in a tweet.
