Govt ready to present ‘foreign threat letter’ to Chief Justice

Islamabad (HRNW) Federal Minister Asad Umar has said the Prime Minister is ready to present the letter he has received from a foreign country and containing a threat against his government in front of Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial.

He was addressing a press conference along with Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry.

Umar said that the letter clearly mentions a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan although it was received way before the opposition submitted the no-trust move in the National Assembly Secretariat on March 8.

The minister said that the letter is a proof that the no-confidence motion is an international conspiracy.

He said the letter threatens that if the no-trust motion against Imran Khan fails there will be repercussions.

Umar added that there is no doubt that Nawaz Sharif is a character in this conspiracy.

“He has been sitting in London and holding meetings,” said Asad adding that the details about these meetings will be revealed by Prime Minister Imran Khan whenever he deems fit, but it has been reported in media whom Nawaz Sharif has met.

The senior leadership of PDM couldn’t be unaware of this letter, he added.

“They [PDM leadership] used to say all matter have been decided, and it shows they know how this letter links” with the developments.

Umar expressed hope that dissident PTI MNAs will not become part of a conspiracy that threatens Pakistan’s sovereignty.

‘People like Nawaz become stooge of international establishment’
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that he had advised Imran Khan against allowing Nawaz Sharif to fly to London.

“I had been saying to not let Nawaz Sharif go because such people become stooges of international establishment after going abroad.”

He claimed that Nawaz Sharif held meeting with many people, including Israeli diplomats.

“We received the letter before the no-confidence motion [was submitted] but the letter mentions it. This is problematic.”

The ministers admitted that the prime minister was under oath to protect national secrets, but said that they believe law allows the government to share the letter with the chief justice.
