German basketball player Hollatz registers for NBA draft

German basketball player Justus Hollatz of the Hamburg Towers has registered for this year’s NBA draft.

“First of all, it’s a formal step to meet the registration deadline, which can be done in the next 12 days,” the 20-year-old point guard said on Tuesday.

Towers managing director Marvin Willoughby had in the morning confirmed a report by the magazine BIG.

“For me it’s important to get feedback from the scouts, so I know what I have to work on to improve my chances. It’s also important that they know my name,” Hollatz added.

With the Towers, Hollatz is currently eight in the German basketball league and is in the last 16 of the Euro Cup. So far this season, he has 7.3 points per game and 4.8 assists per game in 37 appearances.

In 2021, he prematurely withdrew his application from the NBA draft. “If there is no guarantee for an NBA commitment, then we can have the name removed from the draft list again this year,” Hollatz said.

This year’s NBA draft is scheduled to take place on June 23. In the annual event, NBA teams select players from American colleges and international professional leagues to join their rosters.
