Düsseldorf (dpa) – Cologne coach Steffen Baumgart hopes to extend his contract with the club, which expires in June 2023.

“We are in talks and there is no time pressure. I am looking forward to next year. It is clear that I want to stay here,” he told the Bild am Sonntag TV on Sunday.

Baumgart also said that he had no offers from other clubs.

Cologne are fighting for a spot in the Europa League and even dreaming with a possible qualification for the Champions League. Baumgart said they can’t “lose sight of this target,” but warned that one should not be too euphoric.

“We don’t know what will happen in the summer. We are also not in the best situation financially. We have to keep ourselves stable in the Bundesliga,” the coach explained.
