Commissioner Karachi assures Ulemas of foolproof steps for Youm-e-Ali (RA) processions

Karachi (HRNW) Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon on Wednesday chaired a meeting regarding arrangements of 21st Ramadan Procession of Youm-e-Ali (R.A) and directed departments concerned for ensuring smooth commencement of the procession and timely redressal of identified issues including security, sanitation, encroachment, lighting and traffic.

Syed Shabar Raza, Allama Syed Furqan Haider, Allama Syed Baqir Hussain Zaidi, Shamsul Hassan Shamsi, Syed Hassan Mehdi and others attended the meeting.

DIG South Sharjeel Kharal, Sector Commander Rangers Brigadier Bilal, Deputy Commissioner South Irshad Ali Sodhar, SSP East Syed Abdul Rahim, SP Jamshed Saddam Hussain, Traffic Police, KMC, Fire Brigade, DMCs and line departments’ officers were also present at the meeting.

The commissioner assured the Ulemas to make proper arrangements including foolproof security of processions and Imambargahs. He also assured that K- electric would be asked to declare loadshedding free areas where procession and majalis are arranged. On the occasion, he directed Deputy Commissioner East to immediately remove the illegal rickshaw stand at the Numaish roundabout near the Sailani store.

He also directed the district administrations to make special lightning arrangements and cleanliness with the coordination of Shia organizations on the procession routes of the city and around the Imambargah. The commissioner directed the administration to ensure lighting arrangements in Nishtar park and its routes and lift the garbage in its surroundings. The commissioner also directed to ensure emergency arrangements in major hospitals of the city on Youm e Ali (RA).

He directed the Deputy Commissioner South to deploy workforce round the clock to remove debris on M A Jinnah Road near Sea Breeze and Capri Cinema so that main procession could pass through its route smoothly. He said that focal persons would be deployed at the Commissioner Karachi control room who would be available at 1299 for redressal of complaints of organizers of processions and majalis.

In addition, a control room will also be set up at Mama Parsi School under Deputy Commissioner South to monitor the main Youm Ali (R.A) procession.
