Excellent Performance of NAB Karachi

Karachi (HRNW) Honorable Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB chaired a meeting to review the performance of NAB-Karachi especially convictions made under Section 10 of National Accountability Ordinance (NAO)-1999 during the year 2017 to 30 April 30, 2022 at NAB Headquarter. Dr. Najaf Quli Mirza, DG NAB-Karachi attended the meeting via video link. Honorable Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB appreciated the excellent performance of NAB Karachi under the supervision of Dr. Najaf Quli Mirza, DG NAB-Karachi.

During the meeting, Dr. Najaf Quli Mirza, DG NAB-Karachi informed that during the period from January 2022 to 30 April2022, 4 persons were convicted by different learned Accountability Courts of Karachi under section 10 of NAO-1999. The details of the 4 convicted persons under section 10 of NAO-1999 are as under:

1. State Vs Habib Ahmed Khan S/o Latif Ahmed Khan & Others.Accused Habib Ahmed Khan S/o Latif Ahmed Khan, was convicted by the Accountability Court on 27.01.2022 with a fine of Rs. 10 million.
2. State V/s Ahmed Jameel Ansari & Others. Accused Jameel Ansari S/o Zill-ur-Rehman Ansari and Muhammad Ajmal Ansari S/o Zill-ur-Rehman Ansari were convicted by the Accountability Court on 27.01.2022 with a fine of Rs. 1,776.55 million.
3. State V/s Hussain Bux Narejo & Others. Accused Shafiq Ahmed Soomro S/o Abdul Wahab was convicted by the Accountability Court on 31.03.2022 with a fine of Rs. 68.55 million.
DG NAB-Karachi also informed the meeting that during the year 2021, due to the efforts of NAB-Karachi, 53 persons were convicted by different Accountability Courts under section 10 of NAO-1999. The details of the 53 convicted persons under section 10 of NAO-1999 are as under:

1. State Vs Syed Muhammad Furqan & Others (Supplementary Reference filed on 03.04.13) (SECP).Accused Syed Muhammad Furqan S/o Syed Nisar Hussain, Rasheed Ahmed S/o Fareed Ahmed, Muhammad Saleem Yousuf S/o Muhammad Yousuf and Aftab Hassan S/o Shamsul Hassan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 30.03.2021 with a fine of Rs. 600 million. 2. State V/s Shafiq Ahmed Khan & Others. Accused Shafique Ahmed Khan S/o Muhammad Rafique, Barkat Ali Qureshi S/o Muhammad Ayub and Mst Kausar Shah D/o Jurial Shah were convicted by the Accountability Court on 13.02.2021 with a fine of Rs. 136.13 million.
3. State V/s Nisar Ahmed Jan Memon (Nisar Morai) & Others. Accused Nisar Ahmed Jan Memon (Nisar Morai) S/o Muhammad Bachal Memon, Sultan Qamar Siddiqui S/o Qamar Ul Hassan Siddqui, Haji Wali Muhammad S/o Haji Yousuf, Imran Afzal S/o Afzal Hussain, Shaukat Hussain S/o Mustafa and Abdul Mannan S/o Sharif-ul-Muzaffar were convicted by the Accountability Court on 20.02.2021 with a fine of Rs. 60 million. 4. State Vs Muhammad Anwar Baloch & Others. Accused Muhammad Suhail Shaikh S/o Abdul Ghani, Muhammad Waqas S/o Abdul Ghani, Muhammad Anwar Baloch S/o Muhammad Ismail Buledi, Irsahd Ali Jessar S/o Muhammad Hussain, Nasrullah Anwar S/o Muhammad Anwar Baloch and Muhammad Arsalan Shaikh S/o Abdul Ghani were convicted by the Accountability Court on 01.03.2021 with a fine of Rs. 25 million.
5. State Vs Imran Ghani (Owner/ Proprietor of M/s Usman Textile Mill) & Others. Accused Imran Ghani S/o Usman Ghani, Syed Naeem Akhtar S/o Syed Tehzeeb Akhtar and Iqbal Shafique S/o Shafiquddin Khan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 13.03.2021 with a fine of Rs. 48.32 million.
6. State Vs Barkat Ali Junejo & Others (Sindh University Employees Cooperative Housing Society (SUECHS) Jamshoro). Accused Barkat Ali Junejo S/o Ibrahim Junejo, Asghar Abbass Sheikh, Imran Mehdi Memon, Nazar Muhammad Junejo S/o Abdul Latif Junejo, Haider Ali S/o Ghulam Muhammad, Mir Shah Muhammad S/o Mir Ghulam Akbar, Abdul Raheem Baloch S/o Ghulam Muhammad, Mohib Ali Abro S/o Rustam Ali Abro, Alla Dino S/o Muhammad Ismail, Ghulam Muhammad Dal S/o Nabi Bux, Ali Anwar S/o Abdullah Sehar, Muhammad Khan S/o Nabi Bux Tagar, Liaquat Ali S/o Muhammad Yaqoob, Abdul Lateef Junejo S/o Nazar Muhammad Junejo, Faryad Hussain S/o Muhammad bashir, Hayat Muhammad S/o Nazar Muhammad Junejo and Ayaz Hussain Laghari S/o Ghulam Qadir Laghari were convicted by the Accountability Court on 27.01.2021 with a fine of Rs. 8.59 million.
7. State Vs Matloob Ahmed & Others, (Hyderabad Railway Cooperative Housing Society).Accused Matloob Ahmed Khan S/o Mehmood Khan was convicted by the Accountability Court on 30.01.2021 with a fine of Rs. 5 million.
8. State V/s Wazir Ali & Other. Accused Wali Dad Khoso S/o Khano Khoso and Mushtaq Ahmed Qureshi S/o Muhammad Dawood were convicted by the Accountability Court on 16.02.2021 with a fine of Rs. 4 million.
