PM consults political leaders for caretaker CM Punjab

ISLAMABAD: (HRNW) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday telephoned political leaders to hold consultations on the name of caretaker chief minister of Punjab.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said the prime minister consulted the top leadership of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

In a tweet, she said that the PM called former president Asif Ali Zardari and PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He also called Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain

The prime minister also held consultations with the ally parties leaders on the political situation of the country, she said.

Earlier PML-N leader Malik Ahmad Khan said the prime minister would discuss PML-N’s nominees for Punjab caretaker chief minister with Zardari and the list would be forwarded to the governor.

Malik Ahmed is representing Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz during the consultation for setting up the interim prime minister.
