Teacher fired after ridiculing school student for speaking in Urdu

KARACHI (HRNW) The teacher who allegedly humiliated a young child studying at a private school for speaking in Urdu has been fired from his job.

The Directorate of Private Schools took notice of the video circulating on social media in which a student was ridiculed and chalk was applied to his face for speaking in Urdu.

The directorate formed a three-member committee to investigate which confirmed the incident and instructed the immediate dismissal of the teacher involved.

Chairman of Private Schools Association Tariq Shah said schools should educate the students and not adopt such attitude. He said the incident is highly condemnable and immediate action has been taken.

Musa, a young child studying at a private school in North Nazimabad was allegedly humiliated by the school for speaking in Urdu. A video made by the child’s father has been going viral on social media, in which the man narrates the incident.

The child’s father alleged that his son was ridiculed for speaking in Urdu in school and black ink was applied to his son’s face in school as punishment for speaking in his national language.

The child’s father also alleged that said that his son was ridiculed in front of other children. He claimed to have raised the issue with the school management but no action had been taken.

Musa’s father stated that the incident has greatly impacted his son’s self-esteem and he had decided to withdraw him from the school.
