PTI urges CJP to allow Imran Khan’s court appearances via video link

Lahore (HRNW) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, urging that Imran Khan’s court appearances should be conducted through video link due to security concerns.

A joint letter has been written to the Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial by PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Secretary General Asad Umar.

The letter states that Imran Khan is the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and the head of the largest party in the country.

After Imran Khan was removed from power as part of a conspiracy, several false cases were filed against him and the PTI leadership, the letter said.

It added that an assassination attempt was made on Imran Khan in Wazirabad during which he was seriously injured.

The letter raised graved concerns and said there are reports of another assassination attempts on Imran Khan during his frequent appearances in court.

In the past, Pakistan has seen the attacks on several political leaders and their martyrdoms. It is feared that Imran Khan may be attacked again if proper security arrangements are not provided, the letter states.

The letter further said that Imran Khan is facing serious threats and is not being provided adequate security.

It mentioned that there were inadequate security arrangements for Imran Khan during his recent appearance in the Islamabad High Court.

The purpose of registering cases against Imran Khan is to create an environment to attack him again, the letter added.

It is requested that in view of the current situation, Imran Khan should be allowed to appear in various courts through video link, text of the letter.
