CPLC Karachi Arrests Outlawed Group’s Extortion Kingpin From Swat

KARACHI: CPLC Karachi-South in a joint raid with Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested kingpin of outlawed terrorist group’s extortion wing from Swat.

“Abdul Ghani, head of outlawed TTP’s extortion wing, has been arrested from Swat,” sources at the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) shared.

“The raid was conducted jointly with the CTD on the indication of two accused arrested in Karachi earlier,” sources said.

“Accused Abdul Ghani had also issued murder threat to the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province,” sources said. “His arrest was also a challenge to the KP government,” according to sources.

“Arrested extortionist of the outlawed TTP, Abdul Ghani, is being shifted to Karachi,” sources said.

According to sources, CPLC-South district had received a complaint of extortion. CPLC chief constituted a special team and arrested Ghulam Qadir and Kamal on April 09, sources said.

“Both accused were involved in major extortion cases in Karachi. They were demanding extortion money from victims over a telephone number of Afghanistan,” sources said.

The accused had confessed killing and injuring traders for refusing to pay extortion money in Karachi.

“The extortion gang operating across the country. They were calling from same phone number for demanding protection money in Karachi and KP,” sources said.

“Arrested accused Abdul Ghani has been booked in over 60 cases in KP,” CPLC sources said.

Ghulam Qadir and Kamal, arrested in Karachi, have disclosed killing an ASI of police and several police informers,” according to sources.

“They had set the property of a big businessman on fire after he refused to concede to their demand for extortion money,” sources said.

“Raids are being conducted for arrest of a key target killer of the extortion gang,” sources added.
