PPP clinches six mayor seats in Sindh

KARACHI (HRNW) The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won six seats in the mayoral elections in Sindh on Thursday.

In Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Murtaza Wahab, Kashif Shoro from Hyderabad, Arsalan Sheikh from Sukkur, and Abdul Rauf in Mirpur Khas had been elected as mayors.

Rasheed Bhatti was elected mayor in Shaheed Benazirabad and Anwar Ali Lohar from Larkana.

On the other side, the charged workers of the PPP and the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) clashed outside the arts council minutes after PPP’s Murtaza Wahab was elected mayor following an intense competition on Thursday.

The workers, armed with clubs and sticks, pelted each other with stones and created chaos. Police and Rangers sprang into action and dispersed the mob by mounting baton-charge. Police also arrested some of the troublemakers.
