Retired employees of Urdu University protest for payment of pension and dues

Karachi (HRNW) Retired employees of Urdu University have registered a protest at the Vice Chancellor’s office at the Gulshan Iqbal campus of Urdu University for approval of their demands for payment of their pension and post-retirement dues.

Abdul Haq Campus Teachers Association participated in this protest expressing solidarity with the retired employees. The protest banners demanded the Prime Minister and the Federal Education Minister to investigate the embezzlement in the pension fund and pay pensions and dues.

Earlier, a special meeting of retired teachers and other employees was held at the Department of Chemistry, Gulshan Iqbal Campus. This was the second meeting in this series.

Earlier, a meeting has also been organized in Abdul Haq campus. In the meeting, the participants expressed concern over delayed payment of pension and non-payment of current month.

In the meeting, the issue of non-payment of dues to the employees who retired during the last 2 years was also taken into consideration. In the light of the resolution passed in the meeting, all the participants took out a rally towards the Vice Chancellor’s office and reached the office to meet the Vice Chancellor.

The participants said that majority of the retired employees have no other means to survive in this era of inflation except pension.

He further said that if their problems are not resolved immediately, they will widen the scope of this protest to get their rights and if necessary, they will also appeal to their students to support them. Come help and do your part to give your teachers their due. The participants decided that the protest would continue until the payment of pensions and dues.
