ECP wants all eligible voters to ensure votes

LAHORE (HRNW) The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has instructed all eligible voters to ensure the registration of their votes and those of their families before October 25 this year.

In an official statement, the ECP through its spokesperson emphasised that there were only 10 days left for voter registration, so it was imperative that all eligible Pakistanis took the necessary steps to register both their own votes and those of their families.

The ECP stated that after October 25, all electoral rolls would be frozen nationwide, and no further voter registrations or transfers would be accepted.

The ECP clarified that all eligible individuals with identity cards could complete their voter registration between September 28 and October 25, 2023 – the period during which the electoral rolls remain unfrozen.

The ECP assured the public that it was fully facilitating the voter registration process, and stressed that voter registration and transfer of votes could be accomplished using the Form 21.

The ECP further stated if any errors in the data or address were identified, the same could also be corrected.

It is noteworthy that the electoral rolls were initially frozen across the country on July 20 this year.

The ECP highlighted that the vote was registered at the permanent or current address as per the voter’s identity card.

For government employees who may be posted in a different district or province, they are allowed to register their own and their family’s votes at their place of posting.

Lastly, the ECP encouraged all eligible individuals to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming general elections.

Those who receive identity cards by October 25 will be ensured the opportunity to register their votes.
