Pak Army called in across country to combat coronavirus pandemic

ISLAMABAD (HRNW) – The federal government on Monday called in the Pakistan Army to help in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, as the number of confirmed cases in the country crossed 800 on Monday.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Interior, the federal government deployed the Pakistan army across Pakistan under Article 245 of the Constitution to assist the civil administration battling with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic.

On Sunday, Balochistan and Sindh governments had sought assistance of Pakistan Army against deadly coronavirus. Balochistan government had written a letter for giving civil authority to the army under Article 245 in order to curb the spread of the virus.

On the other hand, the Sindh government had requested the federation to send army soldiers for the help of civil administration under Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in imposing lockdown.
