Multan poultry traders on strike, all chicken shops closed

Modern chicken farm production of white meat ** Note: Shallow depth of field

Multan (HRNW) Poultry traders in Multan announced a strike on Monday and have decided to keep all chicken shops in the city closed.

The decision was taken after the Punjab government set the price of chicken at Rs 260 for a kilogram, which was far less than the shopkeepers’ demand.

“We can’t sell chicken at government prices because the prices that we have set are between Rs 320 and Rs 350 per kg,” a trader said, adding that as long as their demands are not met, the strike will not end.

Previously, the administration of the city had cracked down on shops selling chicken at higher prices and had sealed multiple shops. Shopkeepers were also fined.
