Attendants of deceased patient attack doctor at Peshawar hospital

Peshawar (HRNW) Attendants of an elderly patient, who died of a heart attack at Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital on Friday, assaulted a doctor at the hospital after his death.

The deceased was a 60-year-old who had been brought in to the emergency ward for treatment. His attendants stormed the hospital’s emergency ward and slapped and misbehaved with the doctor.

The hospital administration has lodged an FIR against them. A meeting was also called discuss providing increased security to health workers.

This is one of several violent attacks doctors at the hospital have suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Young Doctors’ Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has repeatedly demanded additional security for doctors working during such conditions.
