Dow University employees suspended for evicting women from Ojha hostel

Karachi (HRNW) Three employees of Dow University were suspended on Friday after a video went viral of two students being thrown out of the women’s hostel at the varsity’s Ojha campus.

The incident reportedly took place at 1pm Tuesday. Since then, a video of the two young women being dragged by their limbs has been circulating on social media. The university’s Vice Chancellor Muhammad Saeed Quraishy claimed that both students graduated a few years ago and haven’t paid the hostel fees since 2014.

On Wednesday, the vice chancellor had constituted a committee headed by Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Kartar Dawani to investigate the matter.

“After the report of the committee came out, three employees of the university have been suspended till further orders while the additional responsibility of chief warden girls hostel has been withdrawn,” said the university in a statement on Friday.
