Islamabad (HRNW) India is trying to alter the demographic structure of the people in the Indian-administered Kashmir by issuing domicile certifications to 25,000 Indian nationals, said Prime Minister Imran in a series of tweets on Tuesday.
The certificates are “illegal” and “in violation of the UNSC resolutions and international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention,” said the premier.
“I have approached the UN secretary general and am reaching out to other world leaders,” he remarked. “India must be stopped from this unacceptable path that further usurps the legal and internationally guaranteed rights of the Kashmiri people.”
He added that this “seriously imperils” peace and security in South Asia.
In August 2019, India repealed article 370 and 35A of its Constitution, revoking the autonomous status of the Indian-administered Kashmir. Article 370 granted special autonomy to the Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. It allowed the state’s assembly to make its own constitution and gave it autonomous state power.
