Kuch Yaadain Kuch Batain, with Kanwal Naseer at Al-Hamra Arts council

Lahore (HRNW) Radio Pakistan’s famous newscaster Kanwal Naseer, who has the honour of being the first female announcer of Pakistan TV, was the guest speaker in the current episode of Alhamra’s monthly literary and cultural session “Kuch Yaadain Kuch Batain” online through ZOOM.
Kanwal Naseer shared with the audience the memories associated with the legends in providing a solid foundation for literature, music, drama in Radio, and she said that Radio was the treasure of beautiful voices. Answering the first question regarding her career, Kanwal Naseer said that my connection with Radio is very old since my childhood there were three things in my life, home, school and Radio, Radio Lahore was a place where literature, music, producers, poets, musicians, and playwrights, lived, these were the personalities who taught every skill, including pronunciation.
Talking about old radio Pakistan building Naseer said that, “I am talking about that Radio Pakistan Lahore, in front of which was the house of Faiz Ahmed Faiz across the road,”. She shared that “there was a children’s program every Sunday,” in which Moneeza Hashmi who was Moneeza Faiz at that time was also attended that weekly program.
Naseer recalled that I was played the role of princes in children’s drama, from were learned to speak a few lines, along with Minhaas, we both were learning at that time when very big names were front of us, and we used to think that one day we would become a big name in the same way.
Naseer refreshed her old memories and said that there were big names in those as days as heroines like Yasmeen Tahir, Rafat Baig, Madam Khurshid, Nilofer Qadir, and the hero’s included Heroes including Naeem Tahir, Khalid Saeed, Dr. Anwar Sajjad, Ejaz Shafi, producers, including Shamsuddin Butt, Izhar Kazmi, Saleem Gilani, due to whom Reshmaan, Mehdi Hassan Introduced, Mustafa Ali Hamdani, who was the first to announced that this is Radio Pakistan. Moreover, Akhlaq Ahmad Dehlavi, Dr. Sajjad, Shoaib Hashmi, Farida Khanum, Iqbal Bano, Rubina Shaheen, Musarat Nazeer she also mentioned the name of Saleem Gilani who was the big name in radio Pakistan history.
Responding a question, Kanwal said, “I came to the radio because of my mother’.” I was asked what I would do in the future, to which my mother immediately replied that she would do Radio, meaning that it was in her mind to do Radio.
To answer a question regarding the experience as the first female anchor of Pakistan Tv,  with Tariq Aziz, she said it was a scary and amazing experience as well because now we were seen by the viewers.
Naseer said I travelled a lot abroad with all the artists and represented Pakistan all over the world. I also teach in an academy and doing FM, with old songs. At the end of the program, she said  to the youth, “hard work and dedication is the key to success to achieve your goals.”
The program was broadcast live on the Lahore Arts Council’s web site and Face book page, which was watched and liked by a large number of viewers.
