Sindh Excise & Taxation Department has collected more than Rs 27,471 million in taxes till October

Karachi (HRNW)- Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control & Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that Sindh Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has collected a total tax of Rs 27471.533 million in the current financial year from July 2020 to October 2020. In the same period of last financial year, tax of Rs.25257.153 million was collected. He said this while presiding over a meeting at his office here today. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Laeeq Ahmed, Director Generals Haji Saleem Bhutto, Munir Ahmed Zardari, Directors Nasir Hussain Affandi, Iqbal Leghari and other officers.

The meeting was informed that Rs.2790.714 million was collected for motor vehicle tax and Rs.22029.795 million for infrastructure cess, Rs.238.685 million for professional tax and Rs.866.661 million for property tax. The meeting was further informed that Rs 36.007 million was collected in the form of cotton fee and Rs 5.713 million in the form of entertainment duty.

Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control & Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla added that the overall situation of tax collection was better but the property tax collection situation needed to be further improved. He directed the officers to improve the tax collection situation.Mukesh Kumar Chawla also asked the tax defaulters to pay their due taxes on time to avoid any untoward situation.
