Alhamra Observed the 6th Anniversary of APS Massacre

Lahore (HRNW) The Lahore Arts Council on Wednesday 16 December observed the sixth anniversary of a deadly massacre on Army Public School in Peshawar, in which approximately 150 people, mostly schoolchildren were died.

In connection with that Alhamra arranged different programs, the day was started with the theme of” Hum Tum Ko Nahi Bholay” in that regard a condolence gathering was held in the committee room of Alhamra which was attended by Sectary Information and Culture Punjab Raja Jahangir Anwar, DGPR Aslam Dogar, AS culture Farhat Jabeen, Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Saman Rai, Director Art and Culture Alhamra Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi and other officers of culture Department. Raja Jahangir along with all the other officers prayed for the martyred children and teacher in APS tragedy.

On the occasion, Sectary Information and Culture Punjab Raja Jahangir Anwar said that, every eye is still on the memory of martyrs, “I salute the families of all those who were martyred in the tragedy,” The patience of their families is exemplary, the sacrifices of APS teachers are unforgettable as well, he added. Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Saman Rai said that, the 16th DEC 2014, undoubtedly was a black day in the history of Pakistan; it was greatest tragedy that we all never forget, as we lost nearly 144 lives of innocent children and 150 in total.

Rai further said that it was a day to re-pledge the nation’s commitment toward “the inimical forces”. Alhamra arranged different activities to pay tribute to the victims of the APS attack. The students of Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts paid tribute to the martyrs through their instrumental performances, she added. At the musical tribute and candle lighting ceremony, Saman Rai with her team prayed for the high place of the martyrs and vowed that the sacrifice of children and the teacher would never be allowed to go in vain.
