Coman in Bayern squad against Gladbach, Gnabry doubtful

Kingsley Coman will be in Bayern Munich’s squad when the Bundesliga leaders face Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday, but Serge Gnabry is doubtful as he’s not completely fit.

“We will have to wait and see with Serge, as he still has some pain. King took part in training and will be in the squad,” coach Hansi Flick told a news conference on Thursday.

Coman suffered a muscle injury in Bayern’s win over Bayer Leverkusen in their last match of 2020, while Gnabry was injured against Mainz last Sunday.

Despite the threat of injuries and a tight calendar Flick said he doesn’t want new players for the rest of the season during the current transfer window.

“We’ll stick together with this squad until the end of the season. We have a very good quality, I don’t see our goals at risk,” the coach said. “We have room for improvement, every single player knows that.”

Like in previous games, Bayern fell behind against Mainz before coming from 2-0 down to win 5-2. But Flick said the “slow start” was already adressed ahead of the game in Gladbach where they have lost three times in their last five outings.

“We want to go into the game with a different mindset and attitude. We want to win more challenges and do more when we don’t have possession, which is important,” Flick said.
