Karachi (HRNW) Sindh Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department & Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that ET & NC Control Department has been taking initiatives to discourage the use of drugs among young generation and curb the activities of the drug peddlers across the province, but without the cooperation of other stakeholders of the society like teachers, parents, media, scholars and NGOs , we can not achieve our desired goals. This he said while taking notice of the news that drugs are being openly selled in certain parts of the city. He said that despite constraints resources, Sindh Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department was striving hard against the menace of narcotics.

He assured that necessary steps were being taken to control the narcotics and during last few months, seven cases were registered in district West only, whereby 29.180 kg chars and 6.465 kg opium were confiscated. He said that it is the need of the hour that all stakeholders should come forward and play their active part against the menace of the narcotics. Provincial Minister for ET & NC Department and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that there was a need to create awareness against the use of the drugs and all educational institutions must conduct awareness seminars, workshops and lectures on the issue.
