Pakistan & Turkey agree to boost bilateral trade & investment ties

KARACHI: Turkish Consulate in Karachi and Pakistan Yarn Merchants Association (PYMA), have agreed on joint efforts to boost bilateral trade & investment ties. In this regard, new avenues for investment in various sectors of the economy, especially investment, will be explored and attention will also be paid to the exchange of trade delegations.

H.E. Eyup Yildirim, Commercial Attache, Consulate General of Republic of Turkey & his team in a meeting held at PYMA office, assured the yarn traders of their full support. On this occasion, M. Hanif Lakhany, Senior Vice Chairman PYMA, M. Farhan Ashrafi, Vice Chairman, Ms. Kausar Ahmed Secretary Commercial office, Senior members Khurshid A. Shaikh, M. Aslam Moten, M. Saqib Goodluck, Danish Hanif, Khurram Bharara, Jawed Khanani, Saqib Naseem, Sohail Nisar, Waheed Umer, Abdullah Naeem, Altaf Haroon, M. Anis Mandavia, Samad Gaba, Noman Ilyas were also present.

Farhan Ashrafi, Vice Chairman & members Executive Committee of Pakistan Yarn Merchants Association. On this occasion, he assured that the proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Turkey & Pakistan & MOU are Major Development in the Bilateral Trade”

He further said that Turkey & Pakistan will work together for the promotion of Yarn, Fabric & Textile Industry whereas initiatives will be taken for the meetings between Businessmen of both the countries on quarterly basis. Beside this after COVID PANDEMIC, B2B meetings will be arranged between Businessmen of Turkey & Pakistan. While replying to different questions from members, Executive Committee of PYMA, said that Turkey will provide full support to Businessmen from Pakistan for opening Business offices in Turkey & this will be a move under strategic Economic Front (SEF) between both the countries.
M. Hanif Lakhany, Senior Vice Chairman and Farhan Ashrafi, Vice Chairman PYMA called the role of the Consulate important in promoting bilateral trade and ensuring easy access to Turkish markets, including visas for Yarn traders.
They said that details of Turkey’s economic zone, incentives given to foreign investors in terms of foreign investment should be exchanged and details of yarns, garments, textile manufacturers, importers and exporters should also be exchanged.
The procedure for setting up business offices in Turkey should also be explained and regular exchange of trade delegations between Pakistan and Turkey, should be ensured in order to further strengthen the friendly trade & investment relations between the two countries.
