Wolfsburg’s Ridle Baku dreams of Euros squad place

Wolfsburg midfieler Ridle Baku is dreaming of a place in Germany’s Euro 2020 squad this summer after impressing in his first season with the club.

Baku, 22, moved from Mainz ahead of the season and made his international debut in a friendly against the Czech Republic in November.

“It would be fulfilling a dream if I could play at the Euros,” Baku told broadcaster NDR late Sunday. “You have to play well for your club and stand out. I have to do that week in week out.

“And if I can also perform with the (German) under-21s then perhaps it could be that I squeeze into the Euro squad.”

Baku has struck five goals this season for high-flying Wolfsburg, who are third in the Bundesliga with nine games remaining.
