Agent of Munich reserve keeper Nuebel seeks loan move

Munich (dpa) – Bayern Munich reserve goalkeeper Alexander Nuebel hopes to get more playing time next season in a loan to another club, according to his agent.

Nuebel, 24, arrived last year from Schalke on a contract until 2025 but has only played three games for the treble winners whose first choice is their captain Manuel Neuer.

“It was clear that Alex could play this role for a year,” agent Stefan Backs said in a podcast by broadcasters Sport1 on Friday. “But a second year like this can not happen and should not happen because match practice is important for a young player.”

Backs said Nuebel won’t get any better on the subs’ bench and that “we are trying to find a solution with Bayern Munich,” with talks however not yet at a deciding stage.

Backs said there was a general agreement that Nuebel was to become first choice in Munich in the medium term, with Neuer turning 35 on Saturday.

As a result, he sees Nuebel rather at a good international club than at another Bundesliga side.

“In order to become number one at Bayern Munich you need a club with a certain class and best-case plays on the international stage,” he said. “I believe we will find a solution that suits Alex.”
