Hyderabad (HRNW)- MPA Sharjeel Inam Memon said that PPP has always worked for the welfare of journalists and will continue to do so in future as well. He assured that all possible measures would be taken to establish endowment fund for the journalists of Hyderabad as we did in Karachi.
Addressing as Chief Guest at the distribution ceremony of Health Cards among journalists including members of Press Club Hyderabad and HUJ at Press Club Hyderabad today, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that PPP believed in freedom of expression and independent journalism and it had always served the people by accepting criticism for reforms and betterment of the people.
He said that it was the responsibility of Hyderabad Press Club, Hyderabad Union of Journalists and all journalists’ organizations to play their vital role in providing facilities to their journalists’ community.
He said that giving health cards to journalists was the responsibility of the Sindh government.
Criticizing the federal government, he said that the federal government wad worse than the dictatorship but people should believe that the days of cruelty were few and going to end soon.
He said that under the present federal government all the institutions had been on decline and this had also affected the media while ” we will continue our efforts to play our role for the revival of media industry”, he said.
On the occasion, heads of journalists’ organizations GM Jamali, Aajez Jamali, Abdullah Sheikh, Junaid Khanzada and others appreciated the journalist-friendly policies of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the PPP government and said that all the work done by the PPP for the welfare of journalists was matchless.
During the ceremony, Sharjeel Inam Memon distributed Health cards among various journalists while senior journalists of Hyderabad Muhammad Hussain Khan, Hamid Mian Sheikh, Hamid-ur-Rehman, Ali Naeem, Hamza Zaidi and others were given traditional gifts of Ajrak.
