Dortmund have first team training under new coach Rose

New Borussia Dortmund coach Marco Rose conducted his first team training on Sunday with a squad still decimated due to Euro 2020.

Captain Marco Reus was among the players present for the opening session of pre-season training which came after medical tests over the previous days.

Rose, 44, joined Dortmund from Borussia Moenchengladbach, taking over from Edin Terzic who had been in charge after the December sacking of Lucien Favre.

Dortmund won the German Cup and finished third in the Bundesliga thanks to strong finish to the past season.

“We really want to achieve something this season,” team official Sebastian Kehl said, adding in reference to Rose he “knows what a great guy we got.”

Dortmund players Jude Bellingham of England and Thomas Delaney of Denmark are still playing at the Euros while others are on holiday after their teams’ elimination.

The season starts in early August with the first round in the cup followed by their Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt.
