5th July, 1977 was the darkest day in the history of Pakistan: Shazia Marri

Karachi: (HRNW) Central Information Secretary Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians and Member of the National Assembly Shazia Atta Marri while addressing a press conference at Clifton, Karachi has said that 5th July, 1977 was the darkest day in the history of Pakistan, it was the day when democracy was derailed in the country and Pakistan’s elected Prime Minister was imprisoned.

She added that we are still suffering the terrible effects of dictator Zia ul Haq’s actions. Ms Marri said that nowadays, country is facing many challenges and even today fabric of the government in Pakistan is similar to the thinking of Zia-ul-Haq while puppet rulers are ruling in the country.

She said that likewise in the era of dictator Zia ul Haq, ban has been imposed on the freedom of expression in the country and journalists as well as people cannot talk about public issues openly. “Journalists who cover public issues are also at risk because they talk about poor performance of this government & highlight their incompetence”, she added.

Ms Marri lamented on Niazi’s government and said that inflation ratio has been growing day by day in the country and Imran Niazi who used to say that when the rulers of the country involved in corruption resulted price hikes. “Even, the situation is worst today, each Pakistani indebted of Rs. 2 lakh”, she added. She said that holding half a dozen press conferences by government ministers cannot benefit Pakistan and they only use abusive and vulgar language against the opposition parties. When Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stood up during his budget speech and demanded that the parliament should be taken into confidence on the issue of Afghanistan.

She added that whatever, happens in Afghanistan will have it’s impact on Pakistan and its people so that this issue should be brought up for discussion in the National Assembly. Shazia Marri said that if there was any sensible voice and opinion on Afghanistan issue, it was only from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who informed about the possible dangers posed to the region in wake of Afghanistan issue.

Shazia Marri further added that a resolution on national security was passed unanimously by the parliament in 2002 stated that the territory of Pakistan would not be allowed to be used for any foreign country. She said that the federal foreign minister appointed by prime Minister on foreign policy of has failed to improve the bilateral relations with the United States.

She informed that two years will be completed by PPP leader Sayed Khursheed Shah in jail in the month of August and no crime has been proved against him Besides, Asif Ali Zardari was imprisoned for 11 years in jail without any conviction. While talking about Azad Kashmir elections, She said that the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs is openly offering bribes to the people in the Azad Kashmir during election campaign but Election Commission of Pakistan is not taking any action against him.

She said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s visit to the United States was being criticized by PTI members and those who were expelled from Quaid-e-Azam University on charges of sexual harassment were criticizing Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. She further said that this is the character and morality of the people and Chairman Bilwal Bhutto Zardari is the son of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and an educated person wants to ties relationship with the other countries of the world. She said that we also want good relations with India but we never consider Modi as sympathetic to Pakistan. On this occasion, PPP leader Taimoor Mehar and Shehryar Baghat were also accompanied.
